After three years, Nusraat Faria is back on the charts with “Loke Boley”. With its vibrant music video and Faria’s scintillating voice, the folk-pop track has already crossed 1 million views.

The Daily Star caught up with the actress to learn what “Loke Boley” actually symbolises.

“‘Loke Boley, Boley Re’ is a line from an old song, which translates to ‘people will say a lot of things’,” said Faria. “I was looking for something that is relevant to our lives, especially to my own. The song carries a simple message: people will always have something to say, but that should not stop you from doing what you want to do. If you have the intention and the willingness, then it doesn’t matter what others say. You have to follow your own path.”

In collaboration with Fuad Almuqtadir and with lyrics penned by Tahzeeb M Badhon, “Loke Boley” took social media by storm when the teaser for the song was released.

“ ‘Loke Boley’ has crossed 1 million views within two days, which is great. The teaser has also crossed 4.5 million views. It’s a great achievement for me,” the singer added. “The numbers are impressive, but what makes me even happier is the kind of response I’m receiving. People are saying how much they missed me and how much they enjoy my work. I took some time because I believe in ensuring quality in everything I do. I believe good things take time. For me, it has always been about quality over quantity.”

When asked about her memorable moments while recording “Loke Boley”, Faria said, “One of the funniest and loveliest moments during the recording was seeing how amazed Fuad Bhai was by my singing ability. This was the first time we collaborated, and he probably thought, ‘Oh, she’s an actress. She may not be that great a singer, and we might have to do a lot of work on the song.’

“But when I started singing, I was simply doing what I enjoy. Although I have never had formal training in music, I do have some understanding of what I’m doing. When he heard my voice, he realized that I have a different texture and vocal tone. That was one of the best reactions I received while working with him in the studio.”

Faria revealed that the biggest challenge behind “Loke Boley” was bringing together all the elements needed to realize her vision for the song.

“The challenging part of ‘Loke Boley’ was bringing every element together. It took me almost two years to convince everyone that I truly believed in this song. Sometimes you can see a vision that others cannot. But every time I listened to the song, whether while working out or walking in the park, I felt it deserved a bigger platform and a grander arrangement.

“Eventually, SVF and Bling Music understood my vision and agreed to support it. At the end of the day, a vision cannot come true unless other people believe in it too. I’m forever grateful to them,” she said.

When asked whether she experimented with her vocals for the track, Faria said she consciously chose to stay true to her natural voice. “Not really. During ‘Pataka’, my first song, Pritom made me sing in a way that didn’t sound like my natural voice. I have a very feminine vocal tone, and I enjoy exploring that side of my voice. In my future projects, you will hear more of my own singing style.

“I think it’s better to stay true to my originality rather than experiment too much vocally. That way, people know it’s Nusraat Faria singing. Many people thought ‘Loke Boley’ was an item song, but it’s my song and I sang it myself. I am really happy that people are loving this song so much,” concluded the actress.
