The love I received for ‘Eta Amaderi Golpo’ is unforgettable: Nader Chowdhury
Veteran actor Nader Chowdhury says he never dreamed of becoming a hero. Instead, his lifelong ambition was simply to become an actor—a goal he continues to pursue decades after beginning his career on the stage.
With acclaimed performances in television serials such as “Baro Rokom Manush” and “Rupnagar”, as well as work in film and directing, Chowdhury has remained a familiar face to audiences for generations. Most recently, he earned widespread praise for his portrayal of a father in the hit drama series “Eta Amaderi Golpo”.

In a recent conversation with The Daily Star, the actor reflected on his career, the overwhelming response to the drama, and the rewards of connecting with younger audiences.
Recalling his breakthrough, Chowdhury said “Baro Rokom Manush”, written by Imdadul Haq Milon and directed by Alauddin Ahmed, helped him gain recognition among viewers.
“I played the character of a private tutor known as Jagir Master. The drama was immensely popular, and people began asking where I had come from. I received tremendous appreciation for the role,” he said.
He added that “Rupnagar”, also written by Milon, further strengthened his connection with audiences.

Speaking about his recent Eid release “Sobujer Gram”, the actor said he portrayed a villager who comes to the city seeking employment for his daughter and faces various forms of humiliation.
“It is an emotional story. Since its broadcast, I have received a great deal of appreciation. Whenever I take on a role, I do not think about popularity; I focus on giving the best performance possible,” he said.
The actor also spoke at length about the extraordinary response to “Eta Amaderi Golpo”, which became one of the most talked-about dramas of recent times.

“The love I have received for this drama is unforgettable. Parents often bring their children to meet me because my character dies in the series. Some of the children genuinely believe I have died,” he said with a smile.
“I tell them, ‘It’s only acting. Look, I’m alive.’”
According to Chowdhury, many children aged between six and 12 have connected with Bangladeshi television drama through the series, making its success particularly meaningful.
Reflecting on his current stage of life, the actor described the audience’s affection as one of the greatest rewards of his career.
“At this stage of my life, earning a place in people’s hearts is a huge achievement. When people tell me I am performing well, that is the greatest award,” he said.
Asked about his early aspirations, Chowdhury was unequivocal.
“I never dreamed of becoming a hero. I dreamed of becoming an actor. Even now, I continue to treat every role as a challenge. I feel fortunate to receive good characters and the love of audiences,” he said.
The actor also praised director Mostofa Kamal Raj, crediting him for helping create the emotional impact of “Eta Amaderi Golpo”.
Concluding the interview, Chowdhury called on artistes across all creative fields to embrace greater responsibility in their work.
“Whether in drama, film, or music, we all need to be more responsible,” he said.
