Released only in multiplexes during Eid, “Rakkhosh” directed by Mehedi Hassan Hridoy is now coming to single-screen theatres. From today, the film will be shown in 30 halls across the country.

This romantic thriller stars Siam Ahmed in the lead role, alongside Tollywood actress Sushmita Chatterjee as his co-star.

Ahead of Eid, the filmmaker had announced that due to concerns over piracy, the decision was made not to release “Rakkhosh” in single-screen theatres during its first week. Finally, after two weeks, the film is seeing the light of day in single screens.

According to information from the production house and the exhibitors’ association, the film will be screened in around 30 theatres, including Grand Sylhet, Ananda Cinema (Kuliarchar), Monihar Cinema and Monihar Cineplex (Jashore), Momo Inn and Madhuban (Bogura), Raj Tilak (Rajshahi), Sugandha (Chattogram), Madhumita, Ananda, Shyamoli Square and Sainik Club (Dhaka), CineScope (Narayanganj), and Swapnil (Kushtia).

Actor Siam Ahmed is delighted with the news of the single-screen release. He said, “Multiplexes are definitely a big platform, but the true audience of cinema belongs to single-screen theatres. I believe they own the film and celebrate it. ‘Rakkhosh’ is a film meant to be celebrated in single screens.”

Producer Shahreen Akter Sumi said, “Audiences kept asking when ‘Rakkhosh’ would arrive in single screens. There’s good news for them—alongside multiplexes, the film can now be enjoyed in single-screen theatres as well. There are plans to release it in over a hundred theatres in the coming week.”

The film also features performances by Ali Raj, Shohel Mondol, and others. Bollywood actress Natalia Janoszek has performed in an item song.

On the other hand, producer Shahriar Shakil has announced that “Domm”, starring Afran Nisho, will be released in single-screen theatres on April 24. The film was also initially released only in multiplexes.

Last Wednesday, during a special screening of “Domm”, Shakil announced the single-screen release date. He said, “We had earlier decided to release it in multiplexes due to concerns over piracy. However, many people kept asking when ‘Domm’ would be available in single screens. Many theatre owners have been contacting us. Considering everything, we have decided to release ‘Domm’ simultaneously in single-screen theatres across the country on April 24.”

Based on a true story, “Domm” is a survival drama. The film stars Afran Nisho, Chanchal Chowdhury, and Puja Chery, among others.

The film has already been released in Australia and is scheduled to release in the United States and Canada in the second week of this month.
