I prefer roles that offer variety: Mim
Bidya Sinha Mim is currently immersed in a busy phase of her career, juggling multiple projects that promise to showcase her range as a performer. With one web film completed and two feature films at different stages of production, Mim is set to appear in three very different roles—each offering a fresh glimpse into her evolving craft.
“I’ve been quite occupied with shooting lately,” she shares. “I’ve just wrapped up one film, I’m working on another, and a web film is also ready for release. It’s an exciting time because each project is so different.”
One of her recent works, a web film titled “Lifeline”, directed by Kazi Azad, was shot in the scenic coastal town of Kuakata. The project explores the emotional and personal journey of a woman navigating life’s many complexities.
“‘Lifeline’ is essentially a story about a woman’s journey,” Mim explains. “It delves into different phases of her life, her struggles, and her growth. It’s very much an acting-driven project, which gave me the space to really explore the character.”
Reflecting on the shoot, she adds, “We filmed in Kuakata, and the location was absolutely beautiful. Working outdoors, especially near the chars, came with its challenges, but it was equally rewarding. I gained a lot of experience from this project, and I truly believe it has turned out well. I’m looking forward to its release.”
Mim is confident that audiences will appreciate the effort she has put into diversifying her roles. “People often ask me why I don’t work more frequently,” she says with a smile. “But I prefer to take on projects where I can portray different kinds of characters. In the upcoming works, viewers will see me in very distinct roles.”
When asked about the challenges of “Lifeline”, she responds candidly, “Shooting outdoors is never easy, and the terrain adds another layer of difficulty. But I enjoy the process, it makes the experience more worthwhile.”
Alongside the web film, Mim has also begun shooting for a new feature titled “Jibon Opera”, directed by Alvi Ahmed. While she remains tight-lipped about the details, she hints at an engaging narrative.
“The story is quite interesting,” she teases. “I think audiences will understand its depth once it’s released. For now, I can only say that it has the potential to be a very good film.”
In addition, Mim has recently completed work on another film, “Malik”, directed by Saif Chandan. The project marks her reunion with Arifin Shuvoo after nearly four years. The duo previously shared the screen in “Shapludu” (2019), and their return has already sparked anticipation among fans.
“Viewers will get to see me and Shuvoo together again after quite a long time,” Mim says. “The work has come out really well, and I’m hopeful the audience will enjoy it.”
Looking back, Mim remains grounded about her journey in the industry. She first rose to prominence after winning the “Lux Channel i Superstar” competition, which served as a launching pad for her acting career.
“Everything I am today began with that competition,” she reflects. “It gave me the recognition and the opportunity to step into this industry. There’s no denying how important it has been for me.”
With three upcoming releases, Mim is set to showcase her versatility—focusing on meaningful roles rather than frequent appearances.
