Emraan Hashmi diagnosed with swine flu

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi, whose latest film “Awarapan 2” has been performing strongly at the box office, has reportedly been diagnosed with swine flu.

According to Hindustan Times, the actor underwent tests in Mumbai after being unwell for several days, with doctors confirming the viral infection. He has been advised to take complete rest for the time being.

Hashmi recently returned to Mumbai after travelling to several Indian cities, including Ranchi, for work. He fell ill shortly afterwards and was unable to attend a special screening of the film in Bengaluru due to his condition. The actor later apologised to fans on Instagram for missing the event.

Despite news of his illness, “Awarapan 2” continues its strong run at the box office. Released on Independence Day, the film has reportedly earned Rs 40.5 crore in India so far.

On its opening day, the sequel surpassed the total box-office collection of the original “Awarapan”, released in 2007. By its first Saturday, it had also reportedly overtaken the lifetime collections of several previous Hashmi films, including “Haq”, “Raaz 2”, “Ek Thi Daayan” and “Jannat”. It is also ahead of Sunny Deol’s “Batwara 1947” at the box office.

A sequel to the 2007 crime thriller “Awarapan”, “Awarapan 2” is produced by Vishesh Bhatt under the Vishesh Films banner and directed by Nitin Kakkar. The film also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in prominent roles.

Hashmi’s return in a familiar screen persona has drawn considerable attention from audiences and fans.
