Jamie Bell and Charlie Heaton are set to headline a new sequel series to Peaky Blinders, with the upcoming instalment introducing a new generation of the Shelby family.

Created by Steven Knight, the series will shift its focus to post-war Birmingham in the 1950s. Bell will take on the role of Duke Shelby, the eldest son of Tommy Shelby, while Heaton will also play a leading role in the story.

Knight described the project as the beginning of a “new era” for the franchise, adding that the series will explore a city shaped by opportunity and danger in the aftermath of war.

The cast will also include Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch and Lucy Karczewski. The sequel is expected to span two seasons, each comprising six episodes, though a release date has not yet been announced.

The original series, led by Cillian Murphy, premiered on BBC in 2013 and later gained global popularity on Netflix. Murphy portrayed Tommy Shelby, a World War I veteran who rises from gang leader to influential political figure.

Following the show’s conclusion in 2022, Murphy reprised his role in the film “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man”, released on Netflix on March 20, 2026, alongside Barry Keoghan, who played Duke Shelby.

The new series will pick up a decade after the events of “Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man”, with Duke Shelby at the centre of the story—older, more ambitious and increasingly dangerous.

Produced by Banijay UK’s Kudos and Garrison Drama for the BBC and Netflix, the sequel aims to expand the legacy of the franchise with a fresh narrative direction.
