Veteran singer Ferdausi Rahman’s autobiography launched at Bengal Shilpalay
With a musical career spanning more than 50 years, Ferdausi Rahman has been one of the most famous cultural icons of Bangladesh. Her autobiography, titled "Loke Bole Prem Ami Boli Jwala," was published by Prothoma on Tuesday at Bengal Shilpalay. The launching ceremony included the singer Ferdausi Rahman herself, along with two legendary singers, Syed Abdul Hadi and Kanak Chapa, to discuss the book.
The evening started with the melodic voice of Bangladeshi playback singer, Anupama Mukti. Next, Chair of the Executive Board at Bengal Institute, Abul Khair and Luva Nahid Chowdhury, Director General of Bengal Foundation, greeted Ferdausi Rahman, followed by a speech from lyricist and journalist, Kabir Bakul.
After his speech, Kanak Chapa was invited to the stage, who expressed that Rahman had inspired her to be an artist and become who she is. Her speech was followed by Syed Abdul Hadi’s. As an artist contemporary to Ferdausi Rahman, he reminisced about their friendship and the veteran singer’s commitment towards her craft.
Ferdausi Rahman wrapped up the session by sharing a few words herself. She talked about the different phases and a few notable events of her life that contributed to how the book had eventually shaped up.
Matiur Rahman, editor of Prothom Alo and head of Prothoma publications, delivered the final speech, where he expressed gratitude towards the audience in attendance and thanked Ferdausi Rahman for her contribution to the Arts and for penning this book.
