CUET student placed on 2-day remand for ‘hurting religious sentiment’

A Chattogram court today placed a student of Chattogram University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) who was later suspended, on a two-day remand for derogatory remarks about religion on social media.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Helal Uddin of Chattogram passed the order after a hearing in presence of the accused in court today.  

Police filed a case against him at Raozan Police Station on March 20 after the alleged derogatory remarks went viral on Facebook. The CUET authorities later suspended the student from the university.

He was arrested by Raozan police on March 21.
