Youth arrested in Gazipur over rape and filming the crime

One person was arrested in Gazipur early today in a case filed under the pornography act on charge of raping a young woman and filming the crime.

Rapid Action Battalion arrested Arman Khandakar Rahul (26) of Hadinal area of Gazipur city from his house around 12:30am, said Lt Commander Abdullah Al Mamun, in charge of Rab-1 in Gazipur.

Arman got acquainted with the woman, a resident of Dhaka's Mohammadpur area, through Facebook and invited her to his friend's house at Hadinal area. He recorded video footage of their intimate moment on January 20, said the Rab official.

Later, he raped her and filmed the crime, threatening her of releasing the video footage taken earlier, the Rab official said.

Then Arman demanded Tk 5 lakh from the victim, Lt Commander Mamun said.

Victim's mother later filed a case with Gazipur Sadar Police Station on February 6 under pornography act, the official also said.

During primary interrogation, Arman confessed to his crimes, Mamun added.
