Trader killed in front of son in Pallabi: 2 accused confess to involvement
Two accused confessed to a magistrate yesterday that they were directly involved with the killing of a trader in front of his seven-year-old son in Dhaka's Pallabi area on May 16.
The accused are: Mohammad Murad and Rony Talukder.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mahmuda Akhter recorded their statements after Syed Iftekhar Hossain, an inspector of Detective Branch of Police and also the investigation officer of the case, brought them at her chamber.
After recording their statements, the magistrate sent them to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
In their statements, the duo told the magistrate that they along with 10 others led by Sumon Bepari stabbed Shahinuddin indiscriminately with sharp weapons -- leaving him dead on the spot.
As per direction of former lawmaker MA Awal, they killed the victim, they said in their confessional statements, an official of the court said.
They were produced before the court on completion of their four-day remand in the case.
On Friday, Awal, Zahirul Islam Babu and Nur Mohammad Hasan were placed on a four-day remand each in the same case.
