Ron Sikder arrested soon after landing at Dhaka airport, granted ad interim bail

A Dhaka court today granted ad interim bail to Ron Haque Sikder, managing director (MD) of Sikder Group, after he was produced before the court in connection with an attempted murder case.

Metropolitan Magistrate Md Ashek Imam passed the order after Sub-inspector Md Ripon Uddin of Detective Branch of Police, and also the investigating officer of case, produced him before the court with a forwarding report.

The defence lawyer submitted a petition seeking bail on grounds that Ron's father had died recently.

Upon hearing both sides, the magistrate granted bail until the next scheduled date.

Ron was arrested from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 10 am today. He was shown arrested in a case filed by Exim Bank.

The Sikder Group MD came to Dhaka from Dubai due to the death of his father, said police. He has been a fugitive since being charged in an attempted murder case.
