Police detain CNG driver with Tk 2.94 lakh stolen from bank official in Rajshahi
Police today detained the driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw who had allegedly stolen Tk 2.94 lakh from a bank official in Rajshahi city.
The detainee is Md Anwar Hossain (32), who was picked up from Dingadoba intersection in Rajpara this morning.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the cash from his house at Mahishbathan's Uttarpara in the city.
According to police, Moktadir Ahmed, a bank official, was going to Bhadra by the auto-rickshaw from Rajpara around 7:30am yesterday, a press release issued by RMP said.
He had a bag containing Tk 2.94 lakh in cash, a mobile phone, office identity card and keys, said the release.
When auto-rickshaw reached Bhadra, Moktadir left the bag in the vehicle and went to the bus counter. Soon after he got out, the driver drove away.
The bank official later lodged a general diary with Boalia Model Police Station.
Following the GD, the RMP Cyber Crime Unit led by Commissioner Abu Kalam Siddique launched a drive, collected CCTV footage from the scene, identified the accused and arrested him.
