2 arrested for raping teenager in Cox’s Bazar

Two people were arrested on charges of raping a teenager in Ramu upazila of Cox's Bazar on April 26.  

The arrestees are the victim's stepfather and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver Saimon, reports our Cox's Bazar correspondent.

Arup Kumar Chowdhury, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Ramu Police Station, said police rescued the victim from a house at Malapara Mitarchhara in Joarianala union and also arrested the duo from the scene.

Saimon, who was in a relationship with the victim, took her to a community centre -- promising her of marriage -- where her stepfather, Saimon and Saimon's associate Kalu Miah raped her, the OC said. 

When the alleged rapists took the girl home after she fell sick at the community centre, locals informed police, police said.

The victim was sent for medical test at Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where she is undergoing treatment, OC Arup Kumar said.

The arrestees gave confessional statement under section 154.
