Woman killed in Sirajganj train accident

A woman was killed and her relative was injured after a train hit them in Sirajganj's Sadar upazila this noon.

The deceased was identified as Asinur Khatun (38) and the injured is Nupur Khatun (16), said police.

Sazzad Hossain, sub-inspector of Government Railway Police (GRP) Station in Sirajganj, said a Dhaka-bound train of Sundarban Express hit Asinur and Nupur in Mulibari check post area around 12:30pm when they were talking on the rail line.

The accident left Asinur dead on the spot and Nupur injured, our Pabna correspondent reports, quoting the police official.

On information, Sirajganj GRP police recovered the body and sent it to Sirajganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, said SI Sazzad.

Critically injured Nupur was first taken to the 250-bed Bongomata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj and later shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura for better treatment, added the SI.
