Woman 'commits suicide' after killing son

A woman allegedly committed suicide after killing her 10-month-old son at Kulunia village in Sadar upazila of the district on Sunday.

Police arrested one Nazma Begum, mother-in-law of the housewife, in connection with the incident.

The deceased are Poly Khatun, 20, wife of Jalal Uddin, and her son Jubayer Hossain of the village, said family members.

Poly took her life by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room after strangling Jubayer, suspected Abdullah Al Hasan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.

On information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the bodies and sent them to Pabna Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Whether it is a case of suicide or murder, it will be confirmed after getting the autopsy report, said the OC.

Jalal Uddin and his father went into hiding soon after the incident, he said.
