Over a thousand people of three villages of Dahagram-Angarpota in Patgram upazila under the district are badly suffering as a bridge, built last year to ease the communication of the three villages, has become unusable after damage of its approach road by the recent flood.

"The bridge helped better communication with the mainland in Patgram upazila, but it is useless now as its approach road was damaged by flood," said Abdul Jalil, 55, of Barabari village of Dahagram-Angarpota.

The bridge was used for movement of rickshaws, vans, bicycles and trolleys on the road and it helped farmers to transport their produced crops easily but they are in trouble now due to damage of the approach road, said Delowar Hossain, 55, of Dakkhin Char village.

"Our school going children have become the worst sufferers due to the situation. We appealed to the local union parishad authority for repairing the approach road of the bridge, but to no result yet," said Abdul Gani, 62, of the same village.

Habibur Rahman, chairman of Dahagram union parishad, said, "I have appealed to the upazila administration for fund to repair the damaged approach road. I will start the work immediately after getting fund for the purpose."
