Vandalising sculpture of Bangabandhu: Two madrasa students confess to their involvement
Two madrasa students, the accused in a case filed for vandalising a sculpture of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Kushtia town, have confessed to their involvement in the incident.
They are Abu Bakr alias Mithun, 19, and Sabuj Islam alias Nahid, 20. Both are students of Ibne Masud (R:) Madrasa in the town's Jugia area, our Kushtia correspondent reports, quoting police.
Senior Judicial Magistrate Delwar Hossain recorded their statement under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) this afternoon, said Mostafizur Rahman, additional superintendent of Kushtia Police.
Kushtia Model Police Station Inspector Nishikanta Sarkar produced the two before the court around 2:00pm on completion of their five-day remand, said additional SP Mostafizur.
The court sent them to jail after recording their statements for three hours, the police official added.
Earlier, yesterday two other accused madrasa teachers -- Al-Amin and Yusuf Ali -- made confessional statements under Section 164 in the same court. They are now in jail.
