Vaccination programme for Hajj pilgrims starts June 16

Health check-up and vaccination programmes for Hajj pilgrims will start from June 16 to keep them safe and healthy prior to their travel for Saudi Arabia.

“We will complete training of the intended Hajj pilgrims by June 13, and from June 16 we will start the vaccination programmes for the hajis,” Anisur Rahman, secretary of religious affairs ministry, today told The Daily Star.

He also said meningitis and influenza vaccines will be administered to every pilgrim at different health centres and health certificates will be given to them after their health examinations.

Every Hajj pilgrim must collect health certificate as it will be needed at the airport for immigration clearance, Anisur Rahman added.

Meningitis and influenza vaccines will be administered to the Hajj pilgrims of Dhaka district and metropolitan cities at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital, Kurmitola General Hospital, Mugda 500-bed General Hospital, Sarkari Karmachari Hospital at Fulbaria, Bangladesh Secretariat Clinic, Combined Military Hospital (Dhaka), Rajarbagh Central Police Hospital, Shaheed Taj Uddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital (Gazipur) and Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master General Hospital (Tongi-Gazipur), sources at the ministry said.
