Transport strike called off

Transport workers in Habiganj district called off indefinite strike on Sunday after getting assurance to meet their demand. On Wednesday, Sajib Ali, general secretary of Habiganj Jela Paribahan Sramik Union, called the strike after some workers of Mitali Paribahan beat Junaid Miah, driver of a bus, plying Habiganj-Sylhet road following an altercation. Later, the transport workers demanded exemplary punishment of the attackers. The strike was called off following a fruitful meeting with the district administration, said Dyarish Miah, joint secretary of Habiganj Zila Paribahan Sramik Union.
