Train kills schoolteacher

A schoolteacher was crushed under the wheels of an inter-city train at Fulbaria level crossing in Kaliganj upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased, Rabiul Islam, 43, son of Asir Uddin of Faila village in the upazila, was an assistant teacher of Jhanjhania Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Bidya Niketan.

Headmaster Neil Kamal Roy said a Sayedpur-bound train hit Rabiul at the level crossing when he was crossing the rail track on a bicycle, leaving him dead on the spot.

Meanwhile, a woman was crushed to death under the wheels of a train in Chirirbandar upazila, reports our Dinajpur correspondent.

Stationmaster Shahidul Islam said one Arati Roy, 50, wife of Nishat Chandra Roy of Mothurapur village, was run over while crossing the rail line.
