The body of a nine-year-old boy, who was tragically electrocuted on an electrified tin-shed house in Bakshiganj municipality of the district, was recovered on Friday night.

Deceased Shakil, son of Lavlu Miah of Daripara, was a student of a hafizia madrasa.

Police said Shakil was playing badminton with a friend in the yard of his neighbour Kashem Ali when the cork fell on the roof of Kashem's tin-shed house. Shakil climbed on the roof to bring the cork. When Shakil did not come down from the roof, his friend went home.

As Shakil did not return to their house till 7:00pm, his family members searched for him around the area for a couple of hours but could not find him, said police.

The police went to Shakil's friend's house and asked him about Shakil's whereabouts.

Learning what had happened, police went to the spot and found Shakil dead from electrocution on the roof as it was electrified with a faulty electric wire, said Aslam Hossain, officer-in-charge of Bakshiganj Police Station.
