Star Online Report

A Dhaka court today fixed November 6 for delivering the verdict in a case filed against former national cricketers Shahadat Hossain and his wife Jesmine Jahan Nrittya on charges of torturing their domestic help.

On completion of the argument from both the sides, Judge Tanjina Ismail of the Fifth Tribunal for Prevention of Women and Children Repression today fixed the date for the delivery of the judgement.

On October 27, Shahadat and his wife pleaded not guilty and demanded Justice after the court read out the charges to them.

The domestic help, Happy, brought the allegation of torture against Shahadat and his wife on September 6 last year. Later, a case was filed against the couple with Mirpur Police Station in this connection.

Police on October 4, 2015 arrested Shahadat's wife in the capital's Malibagh area. Shahadat surrendered before the court on the following day.

Police on December 27, 2015 pressed charges against Shahadat and Nrittya in the case.

On September 13 the same year pacer Shahadat was temporarily suspended by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
