Tk 50 for cancelling Uber taxi order from now

Uber, a company that introduced an alternative taxi service for Dhaka city recently, has slapped a charge on cancelling an order after making a call for ride.

The introduction of the cancellation charge – Tk 50 for cancelling after more than five minutes of placing the order – was conveyed to users today via text.

Highly placed insiders said the company was counting big losses after many customers started cancelling their taxi orders following an order placement.

"It was becoming a big load for us, we were counting big losses," a highly placed official of Uber's Bangladesh chapter, told The Daily Star this afternoon requesting anonymity.

Regarding payment of the charge, Uber will record the cancellation and charge the customer the next time he or she takes a ride in Uber taxi.
