Three of a family electrocuted in Naogaon

A couple and their 10-year-old son were electrocuted as they came in contact with a torn electric wire in Porsha upazila of Naogaon on Wednesday night, said police.

The dead were identified as Md Anwar Hossain, 50, his wife Jahanara Begum, 40, and their only son Md Jahid, 10, hailing from Soraigachhi village of the upazila.

Villagers said Anwar, a farmer, went out of his home in the morning for irrigating his paddy field. Jahid went out of home in the afternoon as his father was late in lunch. Jahanara along with her daughter Tanzila went to the field at 8:30pm as her husband and son were not returning home. 

The housewife was electrocuted as she touched the bodies of Anwar and Jahid who were found lying on their paddy field around 9:00pm.

The villagers gathered in the paddy field and found the trio dead as Tanzila screamed for help.

Police recovered the bodies around 10:00pm on Wednesday.
