Sunshade collapse kills two siblings

Two sisters met a tragic death and another girl was injured when the sunshade of a house collapsed at Shartaz village near Shabgram under Bogra Sadar upazila of the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Rubiya Zafrin Roshni, 11, a student of Class IV of Millennium Scholastic English Medium School in the town, and Redowana Zafrin Reshta, 4, daughters of Sonali Bank officer Rafiqul Islam Bakul of Thanthania Hazipara in Bogra town.

The injured is Shukonna Khatun, 10, a student of Class III and daughter of the house owner Alam Mia, who is an employee at Rafiqul Islam's shop.

Family sources said that Roshni, Reshta and Shukonna were playing on the sunshade of Alam's house when it suddenly collapsed. Roshni died on the spot and Reshta was rushed to a private clinic in Bogra town and later referred to Dhaka. She succumbed to her injuries on the way. Shukonna received treatment at Bogra clinic.
