Sohel murder: 16 Premier University students expelled
The authorities of Premier University, Chittagong have expelled 16 students and suspended seven others for their alleged involvement with the murder of Nasim Ahmed Sohel.
Sohel was killed on March 29 in an attack by his rival faction of Bangladesh Chhatra League activists over a farewell and fresher's reception ceremony scheduled to be held on March 31.
"We have taken the decision for their alleged link with the murder," Ahmed Rajib Chowdhury, proctor of the university, told our Chittagong correspondent.
Of the 16, two are former students of the university, the proctor said.
The proctorial body took the decision yesterday on the basis of an investigation report submitted to the university authority on April 3.
Besides, the authorities issued show-cause notice to the seven others students, who were suspended, asking them to answer why they should not be expelled from the university.
