Seven jail guards closed in Jessore

Seven guards of Jessore Central Jail have been closed on charge of assaulting a union parishad chairman at the jail gate in the district.

The jail guards are Hiron Mridha, Faruq Hossain, Sagor Islam, Shahidullah Mir, Masum Billah, Liakat Hossain and Md Hossain.

Jailer Md Abu Taleb confirmed the matter yesterday.

The decision of closing the guards was taken on the basis of CCTV camera footage of the jail, he said.

A three-member probe committee was formed to investigate the assault on Jahurpur union parishad chairman Dilu Patoary of Bagharpara upazila, said the jailor.
