Sale of winter clothes peaks in two dists

People of northern districts see sharp rise in the sale of warm clothes especially at makeshift shops in Rangpur and Dinajpur, as the winter has set in.

Low income people throng to different low price markets of the two districts everyday to buy winter clothes before the mercury falls further that can push the prices up a bit.

'Price of warm clothes is still affordable for the people like me and many others,' said Lokman Hakim at a makeshift market in Rangpur Railway Station area.

The traders, however, hinted that the prices of warm clothes will see a rise from early December. 

Rafiqul Islam, a rickshaw puller in Rangpur city, said 'People here are busy buying their winter clothes early this season because every year prices go up with the fall of temperature.'

Winter clothes traders of different markets also admitted early bumper business this season.

During a visit to different areas, this correspondent found a number of makeshift warm clothes shops at Salek Market, Jamal Market, Surovi Udyan, Technical College and Govt Girls' School area in Rangpur town where buyers were found browsing and buying winter clothes.

Away in Dinajpur, arrival of winter has pushed up sale of warm clothes at makeshift shops at different places in the district.

Low earning people are thronging at makeshift shops to pick up their desired winter clothes at a minimum price.

Besides, quilt makers of the two districts are also passing busy time in making quilts and selling blankets.
