Road crash kills 5 in Natore

At least five people were killed and five others injured when a truck crashed a battery-run rickshaw-van in Lalpur upazila of Natore this morning.

The deceased were identified as Zillur, 52, Jahurul, 52, of Sirajganj Sadar upazila, and Amirul Islam, 45, of Lalpur upazila. Amirul was the driver of the rickshaw-van, said Abu Obayed, officer-in-charge of Lalpur Police Station.

The identities of the other two deceased were not known immediately.

The accident took place in front of a fruit market in Lalpur bazaar around 11:30am, leaving one dead on the spot and injuring nine others, Nazrul Islam, upazila nirbahi officer of Lalpur, told our local correspondent. 

The injured people were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Lalpur Upazila Health Complex.

Later four of the injured victims succumbed to their injuries at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
