Registration for non-ballottee hajj pilgrims extended to Mar 21
The Religious Affairs Ministry has extended registration deadline to March 21 for the pilgrims who will perform hajj under private management this year.
The ministry today issued a gazette in this regard.
As per an agreement of Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, a total of 127,198 Bangladeshi people will be able to perform hajj this year.
Of them, 120,000 people will perform the ritual under the private management while 7,198 under the government management, according to government data.
An aspirant pilgrim will have to spend a minimum of Tk 345,800 to perform hajj this year under private management, around Tk 13,000 more than the previous year.
Earlier at a press conference, Hajj Agencies Association of Bangladesh (Haab), a platform of private hajj tour operators, announced its lowest hajj package rate for this year.
Although the government has cut the airfare by Tk 10,000 for each pilgrim, each of them will have to spend Tk 13,000-Tk 20,000 more to perform the ritual this year either under government or private management.
