Rain accompanied by hailstorm damages over 100 houses in Netrokona

Over 100 houses were damaged when heavy rain accompanied by hailstorm and gusty wind hit Netrakona Sadar upazila in the early hours of today.

"Based on preliminary reports received from storm-hit areas, the hailstorm, which lasted for about 15 minutes, damaged over hundred kutcha and tin-shed houses in the upazila. Standing crops and vegetables in the fields were also damaged by the storm," said Kazi Mohammad Abdur Rahman, Netrakona deputy commissioner.

"We are working to get a complete picture of the losses caused by the storm," the DC said, adding that the people affected would be given financial assistance from the government.
