PM Hasina ranks 39th on Forbes’ Most Powerful Women list
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been ranked as the 39th most powerful woman in the world by the US-based Forbes magazine.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel topped the Forbes 2020 list of 'The World's 100 Most Powerful Women' followed by President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde in the second spot like last year.
Kamala Harris, the new vice president-elect of United States, has secured the third place on the annual list.
Sheikh Hasina ranked 29th on the 'The World's 100 Most Powerful Women' list last year.
The longest serving prime minister in the history of Bangladesh is currently serving her fourth term, Forbes said, adding that during this term, she plans to focus on issues such as food security and access to education and healthcare.
"An ongoing struggle of Hasina has been establishing a firm democracy in Bangladesh," Forbes also said on the website.
