One killed, 10 injured as villagers clash in Pabna

A man was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Doyrampur village in Pabna's Santhia upazila today.

The deceased was identified as Nazir Uddin, 35, said Asif Mohammad Siddikul Islam, officer-in-charge of Santhia Police Station.

A group of people led by Md Tazmul Hossain, a local union parishad member, attacked a rival faction led by Enamul Kabir Shashi, president of the union unit BCL, around 1:30pm as a sequel of previous attack over establishing supremacy in the area, the OC said quoting locals.

Nazir was killed during the clash while 10 others were injured, he told our Pabna correspondent.

On information, police rushed the spot and brought the situation under control, he said.

The injured were undergoing treatment in Santhia Upazila Health Complex, the OC said, adding that additional police were deployed in the village to avoid any further untoward incident.
