Office assistant of Cox's Bazar district council found dead
Police today recovered the body of an office assistant of Cox's Bazar District Council from its bungalow.
The deceased was identified as Ayub Ali, 38, of Hariyaghona area of Chakaria upazila. He was a caretaker of the district council bungalow.
Later, he was transferred to the post of office assistant of the chairman of the district council, said Abdul Mannan, accounting officer of the district council.
The body of Ayub was recovered from room 19 of the bungalow adjacent to the district council building around 4pm.
Zafar Alam, caretaker of the bungalow, said that Ayub Ali went to the room around 1:10 pm with the key. After a while he went upstairs and saw his hanging body inside the room.
Ayub's wife Mamtaz Begum, an office assistant at the Cox's Bazar Judge's Court, claimed that he was murdered and hanged. She demanded justice for her husband's "murder".
Mosharraf Hossain, sub-inspector of Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station, said the body was found hanging and was sent to Cox's Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
No signs of injuries were seen on the body, he said.
