Naogaon youth stabbed dead during scuffle

A youth was stabbed to death today allegedly by a friend during a quarrel over a game of ludo, a popular board game, in Naogaon.

The incident took place in Naogaon Sadar upazila around 11:00am when two youths, Sohel Rana and Hasan Mahmud (both aged around 24 years), were playing ludo and started arguing over the game, reports our Natore correspondent quoting police.

At one stage, Sohel and Hasan both attacked each other with sharp weapons and got injured, said Faisal Bin Ahsan, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Naogaon Sadar Police Station.

A critically wounded Hasan was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 3:00pm, he said.

Sohel, who was admitted to Naogaon Sadar Hospital after the incident, fled from the hospital after he came to know about Hasan’s demise, the police official also said.

Police are trying to detain him, he added.

No case was filed in this connection till filing of this report around 6:00pm.
