Mother sells baby to buy drugs!

A drug addict woman of Rangpur allegedly sold her 33-day-old child for Tk 5,000. The accused is Jamila Begum, 35, wife of Md Rasel, a slum resident of Muslimpara.

Her husband Rasel is engaged in selling and consuming heroin in the area, said Rangpur police.

Jamila secretly sold her baby to a man of Kurigram for Tk 5,000 to buy drugs through a broker on November 22, said ABM Zahidul Islam, OC of Sadar Police Station, adding that they learned about the incident from different sources on Saturday.

The man, who purchased the baby, is now staying in Narayanganj, said the OC.

Refuting the allegation of selling her baby, Jamila, however, said she lost the child.
