Mother, daughter killed in Mymensingh road crash

A woman and her daughter were killed as a pick-up van hit a roadside truck on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Mymensingh Sadar upazila this morning.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, our local correspondent reports.

The incident took place when a family was moving their luggage and furniture to Jamalpur on a pick-up van from Dhaka around 10:00am, said Mushfiqur Rahman, a sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station.

The driver of the pick-up van lost control over the vehicle's steering and hit a roadside standing truck at Shikarikanda, leaving a woman and her daughter dead on the spot and another injured, SI Rahman said.

The injured man, who is husband of the woman, was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital.

Police visited the spot. The driver escaped from the scene soon after the accident.
