Missing trader found dead in Rajshahi
Police recovered the decomposed body of a trader from an abandoned brick kiln at Bagmara upazila yesterday, four days after he went missing.
The victim, Anwar Hossain, 62, of Dippur village, was a grocery shop owner.
Informed by locals, police recovered the body at around 1:00pm. Anwar's relatives identified him by his clothes at the police station.
The body bore several marks of stab injuries, said Abul Kalam Azad, OC (investigation) of Bagmara Police Station. It was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the OC added.
Anwar was missing since he left his house on February 26 with Tk 1.50 lakh with a man named Rawshan Zaman, alias Mostafa, of Raninagar in Naogaon district, said his son Saiful Islam.
Saiful added that family members informed police about the disappearance, but the police could not trace him.
"He was killed for the money," the OC said, adding that the police recorded a general diary when he was reported missing.
No case was filed as of 5:00pm yesterday.
