Manusher Jonno Foundation condemns B’baria mayhem
Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) and its associate partners today expressed deep concern, anger and condemnation over the recent attacks on Hindu community and vandalism of their temples and houses in Brahmanbaria's Nasirnagar.
A group of zealots occurred this outrageous and unexpected incident taking religion as an issue, MJF observed in a written statement signed by its media and communication coordinator Shahana Huda Ranjana.
"Their (religious fanatics) target is to displace the minorities and deprive their rights by creating panic among them. This incident is an evil attempt to malign Bangladesh's image before the world," it added.
The statement also mentions: "We hope that the government take strict actions against the attackers so that such incident cannot be repeated in future."
The rights organistion expects that the government, the citizen rights organisations and the neighbouring Muslims will ensure security for the minority communities.
MJF also demands an impartial investigation into the issue.
CPB strongly condemns
Meanwhile, Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) also strongly condemned this incident and urged the countrymen to protest against the communal forces.
The CPB's central leader at a rally in front of National Press Club today protested the attacks on the minority Hindu community in Brahmanbaria and alleged the local administration for patronising.
CPB President and General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim and Sayed Abu Zafar Ahmed alleged that the government's failures led the rise of the militant and communal fanatics in the country.
CPB to observe Communal Terrorism Prevention Day on Nov 8
They urged the country to observe next Tuesday as "Communal Terrorism Prevention Day".
A delegation of CPB's central committee today also visited the destroyed houses and temples and talked to the affected people in Brahmanbaria's Nasirnagar.
