Man rescued 6 hours into abduction

A man was rescued six hours into abduction in Sadar upazila of Joypurhat district on Friday night.

Police arrested three people for their alleged involvement in the abduction.

The arrestees are Razibul Islam Roni, 32, son of Hazem Ali Mondol of Khaspahananda, Meer Shahid, 32, son of Abdul Kuddus of Uttar Joypur, and Md Real Babu, 22, son of Ferdous Mollah of Sakhinamore under Joypurhat Sadar upazila.

A gang of criminals abducted Md Ujjal Hossain, 28 from Tegharhazipara in Sadar upazila on Friday afternoon. The gang members later phoned the victim's family, demanding Tk 50,000 as ransom.

Ujjal's wife Habiba Parvin informed Joypurhat Sadar Police Station of the matter.

Acting on a tip-off, law enforcers raided Sakhinarmore at around 11.00pm and rescued Ujjal from there. They also arrested people from the spot, suspecting their involvement in the abduction.

An abduction case was filed with Sadar Police Station yesterday, said officer-in-charge Farid Hossain.
