Man killed over land dispute
A man was killed and four others were injured in an attack by rivals over a land dispute in Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga district yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Ashraf Ali, 37, son of Yasef Mandol, of Hossainpur in the upazila.
Injured Akmol Hossain, 36, Biplob Ali, 25, Idrish Ali, 30, and Lion Mollah, 36, of the area, were admitted to the upazila health complex.
There was a longstanding conflict between one Rezaul and Hannan of the village over a piece of land, said Mamunur Rashid, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station.
As a sequel to the conflict, a group of supporters, allegedly led by Rezaul, equipped with lethal weapons attacked the men of Hannan, leaving Ashraf dead on the spot and four others injured.
A case was filed with Alamdanga Police Station.
No one was arrested in connectioin with the incident as of filing of this report at 5:00pm yesterday.
Police said they are raiding different areas to arrest the attackers.
