Madrasa teacher held for raping student in Sirajganj

A teacher has been arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old boy at a madrasa in Ullahpara upazila of Sirajganj. 

Hearing the incident from the victim's family, local people detained teacher Belal Hossain, 28, from the madrasa yesterday afternoon and handed him over to police, said Dipok Kumar, officer-in-charge of Ullahpara Police Station.

The teacher was produced before a district court this morning, our Pabna correspondent reports, quoting the OC.

Quoting the victim's family, OC Dipok said the incident happened at Foyzul Ulum Mohiuchchannah Kawmi Madrasa in Pukurpara  area on Thursday night.

The teacher called the boy, a resident student, to his room at night and raped him, said the police official quoting victim's family.

The student fled the madrasa yesterday and narrated the incident to his family.

Later, the victim's family filed a case against Belal with Ullahpara Police Station last night.

During primary interrogation, the teacher admitted that he attempted to rape the student, added the police official.
