Locals besiege police station demanding arrest of killers
Local people besieged Chuadanga Sadar Police Station for an hour yesterday, demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the killers of a Bangladesh Chhatra League activist.
The victim is Bhulur Rahman, 24, a member of the district unit of BCL, and son of Khabir Uddin of Zintola area of Chuadanga town.
The agitators left the police station around 4:30pm after law enforcers assured them of taking immediate steps to arrest the culprits involved, said Additional Superintendent of Police Belayat Hossain.
Earlier on the day, they brought out a procession in the town to realise the demand.
On Saturday, a gang of 4/5 stabbed Bhulur and one Akash Ahmed, 20, leaving them seriously injured when they were going to the town around 1:30pm.
Bhulur died on the spot, said Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station.
Akash was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the OC.
Yesterday, police arrested three BCL men in connection with the killing, said the ASP.
The arrestees are Sohel Rana, Imran Ahmed and Sakil Ahmed of Satgari area in Sadar upazila.
