Legal notice served to ensure quality of internet, network service to subscribers

A legal notice has been served on the authorities concerned of the government and mobile phone operators in order to ensure quality of internet and network services to the subscribers across the country.

President of Mobile Phone Subscribers Association Mohiuddin Ahmed, journalist Md Mahidi Hasan Dalim and Supreme Court lawyer Md Rashidul Hasan sent the legal notice today through their lawyer Ishrat Hasan, requesting the respondents to take necessary steps to ensure supply of quality internet and network service in seven days.

Secretary to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication and Regulatory Commission (BTRC), and chief executive officers of mobile phone operators Grameenphone, Robi Axiata, Banglalink and Teletalk Bangladesh have been made respondents to the legal notice.

In the legal notice, Ishrat Hasan said her clients Mohiuddin, Dalim and Rashidul are subscribers of different mobile operators.

They have experienced and are still now tremendously suffering for slow speed of internet and poor network coverage, the lawyer said in the legal notice.

She also said in the legal notice that it is shocking and frustrating that even after charging high for data packages the mobile operators failed to provide quality service of network and internet till date.

Ishrat Hasan told The Daily Star that her clients will file a writ petition with the HC seeking necessary directives on the respondents if they do not take steps in line with requirement mentioned in the legal notice.
