Kurigram abducted girl yet to be rescued

A schoolgirl, who was abducted allegedly by one of her neighbouring youth in Kurigram's Ulipur upazila on Thursday, is yet to be rescued.

The victim is a Class VII student at a local school.

According to the case, filed by the victim's father with Ulipur Police Station on Friday, one of his neighbour's son Sohel Rana with the help of his men entered their house forcible and picked up the girl on Thursday evening.

Later, victim's father filed the case accusing 12 people, including Sohel.

Officer in Charge (OC) of Ulipur Police Station Moazzem Hossain said accused Sohel and his family members went into hiding soon after filing of the case.

They were conducting drives to arrest the culprits involved in the abduction of the schoolgirl, the OC added.

Meanwhile, victim's father alleged that police are seem reluctant to rescue his daughter and arrest the culprits due to unknown reason.

On the other hand victim's mother complained that the accused and his men have been treating them to withdraw the case

Earlier, in January this year, the girl's father filed a rape case with the same police station accusing Sohel.

According to the prosecution, Rana, an Intermediate second year student at a local college, developed a relationship with the schoolgirl and later raped the victim, promising to marry her.

Police already submitted the charge-sheet of the case to the court.
