Kidnapped schoolgirl gang-raped, left badly injured

Criminals left a schoolgirl in a serious condition at a bamboo cluster beside her house at Musrat Panial Pukur village in Kishoreganj upazila under the district on Saturday night, after gang-raping her for days following abduction on August 15.

The victim is a Class VII student of a local high school.

The victim's mother Sobiton Bewa filed a case with Kishoreganj Police Station accusing four youths of an adjacent village yesterday.

On the night of August 15, the girl went out of her room to respond to the call of nature when one Manik Mia, 18, son of Abdul Mannan, and three of his associates of adjacent Bari Modhupur village abducted her, goes the case statement.

"We the family members made failed attempts to find her at different places and were preparing to file a case with the local police station.

"At the dead of night on Saturday, the abductors left my daughter at a bamboo cluster beside our house.

"Hearing her feeble voice calling me, I went to the spot and found her lying on the ground in a nearly unconscious state. There were serious injuries all over body, especially in the private parts.

"I took her to Kishoreganj Upazila Health Complex that night and the on-duty doctor admitted her," she added.

The mother filed a case with Kishoreganj Police Station accusing Manik Mia and three of his associates.

Monsur Ali Sarker, officer in charge (Investigation) of Kishoreganj Police Station, said law enforcers started drives to arrest the criminals who went into hiding.
