JS body for carrying out dope test for varsity admission seekers

A parliamentary body today recommended for carrying out dope test of admission seekers of all universities as a part of the government’s move to free the country from the curse of the illegal drug.

The parliamentary standing committee on home affairs also asked the university authorities to carry out dope test of all students before their final examination.

Awami League MP Shamsul Haque, chief of the parliamentary watchdog, presided over the meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

The Jatiya Sangsad committee also recommended to formulate a policy on appointing necessary number of doctors for the department of prisons, police hospital, BGB and Ansar and to increase their facilities.

The top brass of police and Rab, chairman of the University Grants Commission Professor Kazi Shahidullah, among others were present at the meeting.

The meeting asked the authorities concerned to keep monitor activities of those who had surrendered before the law enforcement agencies.

The parliamentary watchdog also asked the police to keep watch so that any of its members cannot get involved in criminal activities.       

It also recommended establishing a modern fire service training academy in a bid to make fore service and civil defense more effective.
