Jakiganj UZ chairman suspended
Jakiganj upazila chairman and BNP leader Iqbal Ahmed was suspended on Sunday as he has been charge sheeted in a case in connection with a clash.
Jakiganj upazila nirbahi officer Titon Khisa said he received a letter from the ministry in this regard.
He said Iqbal Ahmed, former president of Jakiganj upazila BNP and a member of the convening committee, has been charge sheeted in a case relating to a clash that took place in the upazila after M Ilias Ali, organising secretary of BNP's central committee, went missing.
The leader of the upazila unit of Awami League filed a case, accusing Iqbal. A Sylhet court recently accepted the charge sheet of the case.
Later, the Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Ministry suspended him.
