HC summons Chapainawabganj SP

The High Court today summoned superintendent of Chapainawabganj police, TM Mujahidul Islam, to appear before it on December 4 for explaining his comment on beating robbers to death.

SP Mujahidul on Friday reportedly said that the people should crush robbers alive if they are caught red handed.

Today the High Court issued a Suo Moto (of its own) order asking SP Mujahidul to appear before this court on December 4 to explain as to why legal action should not be taken against him for his comment.

The court also issued a rule asking the authorities concerned of the government to explain in a week why the comment of SP Mujahidul should not be declared illegal and unconstitutional.

The High Court bench of Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice Mohammad Ullah came up with the order and rule following a report published from the Daily Amader Somoy on November 26 containing the comment of the SP.
