Govt taking preparations so that children can return to schools: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the government is taking preparations so that children can return to schools and resume their academic activities.

"We are hoping for better days when our children will be able to go to school, and will continue their studies normally. We're taking preparations to that end," she said.

The Prime Minister said this while speaking virtually at the Graduation Ceremony of National Defence Course-2020 and Armed Forces War Course-2020 at National Defence College, Sheikh Hasina Complex DSCSC in Mirpur Cantonment, from her official residence Gono Bhaban.

She said that the government cannot open schools because of COVID-19 and classes have been delivered online and on television.

"Above all, it creates a psychological pressure on children if they cannot go to their schools," she said.

In this connection, she mentioned that when the government was taking preparations to open the educational institutions, the second wave of COVID-19 hit the country.

She again urged all to follow health instructions to avoid getting infected.

National Defence College Commandant Lt Gen Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hasan also spoke at the programme.
